Welcome to the Under 6s for the new 2019/20 season at the Bank of England Rugby Club!

Under 6 was a new age group for us last season but was very popular with local five-year-olds.

Under RFU Age Grade rules, Under 6 players don't participate in festivals or any competitive fixtures. The emphasis is on fun and enjoyment while building the skills that will take them on into Under 7 and beyond. BOERFC enjoys some of the best pitches and facilities in South West London and is an ideal location at which to make a start in the game.

Home training sessions are held at the Bank of England Sports Club, Roehampton Lane.  For the Under 6s these are held on a Sunday from 9:45 to 11:15. Ideally players should arrive 10 to 15 minutes beforehand, to put on boots etc. Note that sessions may finish early in the event of inclement weather, particularly at this age. For Under 6s we expect parents/guardians to remain on the touchline for the duration of the training session whether home or away.

It is not essential for a player to have specialist kit for the start of the season. For example, T-shirts, shorts/tracksuit (no zips, please!) and trainers are perfectly suitable for the first few sessions. Keeping warm and dry, at this age, is critical to the child’s enjoyment and future ongoing participation.

Recruitment ‘No coaches, no helpers, no Mini Rugby!’

Everyone involved in Mini Rugby is an unpaid volunteer. For the coming season the U6 coaching team would welcome new volunteers.  The club actively encourages coaches to gain the relevant RFU qualifications and can provide help and support with this.
